About

Making Indian Law Easier to Understand

Kanoon-AI answers questions across major areas of Indian law. Citations are provided where verified sources are available; verify important information against the primary source.

Our mission

More than 1.4 billion Indians live under a legal system built from the BNS, BNSS, BSA, the Constitution, hundreds of central statutes and lakhs of judgments. Access to that system is uneven — advocates cluster in cities, bare-Act text is dense, and most first-time users don't know where to begin. Kanoon-AI's mission is to bridge that gap with AI that is source-cited where possible, bilingual and free.

What we believe

Sourced from Indian law

Answers draw on the BNS, BNSS, BSA, the Constitution and central statutes wherever available, with citations where verified sources exist. AI-generated information may contain errors — verify important information against official sources.

AI that shows its work

Responses cite the relevant Act, section and case wherever possible so you can verify against primary sources.

Privacy-first

No selling of data. Documents are processed to give you an answer, not to train third-party models.

Bilingual by default

Ask in English or हिन्दी and get answers in the same language — with more Indian languages rolling out.

What Kanoon-AI does today

  • AI Legal Chat — conversations in English or हिन्दी, with voice, citing sources where available.
  • Legal Research — search Acts, sections and landmark judgments.
  • AI Drafting — 13+ ready templates for notices, agreements, affidavits and petitions.
  • Document Analysis — clause-by-clause contract review for text-based PDF, DOCX and TXT files (Pro).
  • Curated Landmark Judgments (Beta) — a curated selection of Supreme Court, High Court and tribunal judgments; a limited curated selection, not the whole of Indian case law.
  • Legal Calculators — court fee, limitation, interest, MACT and stamp duty.
  • Compliance Assistant — Companies Act, GST, labour law and MSME checklists.
  • Know Your Rights — plain-language guides for everyday legal situations.

Where we're going

More Indian languages (Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Malayalam and Punjabi are next), deeper case-law coverage, team workspaces, and an alerts system for judgments and amendments. See the full roadmap.
