Our mission
Indian legal information is spread across statutes, rules and court decisions. Kanoon-AI helps citizens, students and legal professionals find a starting point, understand unfamiliar language and follow links to primary sources. Its mission is to make that first step easier with AI that is source-cited where possible, bilingual and free to start.
Founder and editorial responsibility
Kanoon-AI was founded by Jenil Shekh, Founder and Product Lead, based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He leads the product's development and accessibility work. Founder attribution is separate from legal review: a page is individually advocate-reviewed only when it identifies the advocate and the review scope.
Our editorial policy explains content preparation and source checks. Use the error reporting form to flag an inaccurate statement, or contact the team for product and support questions.
What we believe
Sourced from Indian law
Answers draw on the Constitution, central statutes and legal materials across major areas of Indian law wherever available, with citations where verified sources exist. AI-generated information may contain errors — verify important information against official sources.
AI that shows its work
Responses cite the relevant Act, section and case wherever possible so you can verify against primary sources.
Privacy-first
We do not sell your data or train our own models on your content. AI-provider processing, retention and training treatment depend on their terms and configuration.
Bilingual by default
Ask in English or हिन्दी and get answers in the same language — with more Indian languages rolling out.

- Document Analysis — clause-by-clause contract review for text-based PDF, DOCX and TXT files (Pro).
- Curated Landmark Judgments (Beta) — a limited local selection of Supreme Court judgments. Use official court portals for High Court, tribunal and broader research; this is not a complete case-law database.
- Legal Calculators — educational interest, limitation and MACT estimates, plus court-fee and stamp-duty guidance. Fee amounts are unavailable until applicable schedules are reviewed.
- Compliance Assistant — Companies Act, GST, labour law and MSME checklists.
- Know Your Rights — plain-language guides for everyday legal situations.
